In 1980 a new nation was born in southern Africa, it was full of promise and hope and it was viewed as the beacon of light in Africa.Zimbabwe's first Prime- minister preached reconciliation between the black majority and the former white colonial minority. His message was a welcome one and he instantly became dear to many in the world. From 1982 to 1987 in the ZAPU stronghold constituencies, a war was waged against the civilians by the state.it claimed an estimated 20000 lives.ZANU and ZAPU came to an understanding and signed the unity accord in late 1987.
The agreement did not to salvage the loss of life and the abuses which had occurred during a period of five years.
JUNE 27 Elections where engulfed in violence targeted against those who supported the popular opposition party MDC.An agreement was signed in september 2008 establishing a coalition government.
This time around the message of national healing is being preached but the idea of justice is far-fetched. this creates a culture of impunity and immunity.
