the black egret

7/04/10

by: scribadiva

I wrote a post about the little oil-soaked egret; I really felt like he was mine. But by the badge created, I see he belongs to all of us.

C.P.Snow, My favorite Sinologist said, "When you think of the long and gloomy history of man, you will find more hideous crimes have been committed in the name of obedience than have ever been committed in the name of rebellion."

So sign the petition, please. I dream about that egret. I have nightmares that all of our oceans turn into oil, and that two months ago will be the day in history that we could never come back from.

Keeping awareness up

6/26/10

by: honeyfromthebee

I believe we have a limited timeframe to reach people that otherwise would not consider themselves environmentalists. I am trying to keep awareness up on what is and isn't happening in the Gulf through FB and my blog.

I have friends on both sides of the aisle on FB and it's providing a great place to have a conversation and raise awareness.

My blog is tied to my jewelry design business and the environment and nature have always played a big part in my creativity and passions. What can I do? Support groups I feel are making a difference in the Gulf and keep awareness up via my art.

Oil Sick

6/11/10

by: SometimesRhymes

The price we pay as addicts of "long injections of pure oil" -- as Gary Snyder would say -- is comparable to that paid for heroin addiction. Only this time, instead of just family and community, it's the species and the planet that are negatively impacted by the harmful cravings of the abuser.

We need rehab, and bad, in the form of new, cleaner and environmentally-safe energies, to wean ourselves off our habit. Without this, no matter how thoroughly we manage to clean up BP's mess, a more devastating spill will occur in the future.

Microbes: The Cleanup Solution To The BP Oil Spill

6/10/10

by: Skilz

BP should know that microbes and other bacteria are the only thing that will ultimately clean up the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico

Provide a collection of posts providing information about the BP oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico and info on how to help.

BloggersUnite for the Gulf of Mexico and to save Our Planet! Before the end of June add your post here sharing information about the BP oil spill in the Gulf and, more importantly, post letting people know about how they can help with the containment and clean up efforts. From volunteer opportunities to donation links, please share anything you are aware of that will allow people to get involved and minimize the effects of this disaster. The Gulf is an example of the damage we are doing to our environment. The oceans are a critical part of our food chain. Destruction to them, means destruction to humanity. Finger pointing does little good. Though it is time for us to step up and say, "Enough is Enough." Let's put some teeth into all this talk about fossil fuel alternatives. The supply of crude oil is limited. Governments have the power to save this planet, though it will not be done if we continue down the path we currently are on. Blog about alternatives. Add an Action Badge. Sign the Petition. Get Your Readers Involved. Tell the Government to do what they did when we wen't to the moon. Say "we will become fossil fuel independent by 2020." Tough challenges, calls for tough leadership and tough people. We will either pay the price now, or our children will pay it later. The sea life in the Gulf have no voice and are already paying for our gross negligence. It's time for Real Change. "Enough is Enough." Environmental agencies are pandering to D.C. because they feel Obama is their best option. Well, nothing great ever came out of Washington DC. Everything great started with a small group of people. Do not wait until it's too late. The fate of this planet and what we hand to our kids is in our hands. Let's Unite as Bloggers. We are the Media. Enough is Enough. Sign the petition at http://www.petition2congress.com/2/3283/the-gulf-enough-is-enough/
