I am getting excited about packing my brown bag!
There is something so defining about the feeling I experience when I am gifting, sharing, caring for anyone or anything more than myself. Being selfless isn't always easy, but it is always rewarding. I find when I stop thinking about myself, what am I going to do today, or what movie am I going to watch, or what will I cook tonight, it is refreshing to think about other matters, others ... period.
We live in such a bountiful world which confuses me. No one should be without the necessities of life. There really is plenty to go around. Yet, why is it being withheld from those who need it?
I will ponder these matters as I choose the contents of the brown bags I will lovingly pack and think about how my small gesture can positively affect the recipients. I hope I get to learn a beautiful lesson, one that I have never learned before. I will give up all my wishes for solutions and peace and fellowship, but in particular I am hoping that more people will contribute and learn the very act of giving is what makes us rich indeed.

Brown Bag Project
Give the gift of food to those who are hungry. Take a needy family a meal or donate to a local food bank on 11/21/09. Then, use your blog to inspire others!
Hunger is an issue that affects millions of people around the world. This year, on 11/21/09, BlogCatalog.com and HalfHourMeals.com are asking bloggers to help someone in need by packing a meal and delivering it to a family in need, holding a food drive at your school or church or business, or donating food or money to your local food bank. Then, use your blog to raise awareness about hunger, share your what you learned from giving, or motivate others to help someone who is hungry. BlogCatalog.com and HalfHourMeals.com staff will be hand delivering meals to families in San Antonio on the day of the event. We will be delivering them anonymously and attaching a card that says "from someone who cares about you." If you are unable to physically deliver a meal to someone or deliver food to a food bank, there are ways to donate online. Our local San Antonio Food Bank has a virtual food drive that makes donating food or funds as easy as clicking a few buttons. You can donate to their virtual food drive here: http://vad.aidmatrix.org/vadxml.cfm?driveid=537. Or, look for a virtual food drive sponsored by your local food bank.

What great sentiments Theresa. Giving is a great experience. I know it's a cliche, but I think it is truly better to give than to receive. I get so excited about giving even when it's just a little surprise for a family member or a friend.
For this project we have identified 5 families who we will be delivering meals to in the next couple of days and just thinking about how excited they will be to have someone care enough to help is a great feeling. We're also doing it anonymously, which I love because then they don;t feel the need to thank us, but just be thankful in general that there are good people willing to help other through tough times.
I am so glad you are taking the time out of your life to join this event and help someone in need. A big thank you to you from us here at BloggersUnite for your participation in this event and your desire to create a little more goodwill in the world.

Jay, You seem to be just as sentimental as I. This is a good way to be. :-)
