What I regret...

3/28/09

by: petercasier

What I regret is the stark contrast between the Bloggers Unite success of last year and the just a few participating in the current events.

Earth Day and World Water Day for example are big and important events. How come we can only gather a few hundreds, versus a few thousand blogs (last year events)...

Is it because Bloggers Unite just came out of Beta? Are there too little efforts to go viral (e.g. we blog about Earth Day, but there is little reference to Bloggers Unite).

No, I am not paid or associated with Bloggers Unite. But I think it showed to be an excellent tool to amass the vaste resource of millions of active bloggers for a good cause. We can not let this tool slip...

Mother Earth needs our Care

3/18/09

by: mister2mike

Since time immemorial, our Mother Earth had provided for us everything we need. Our Shelter, Our Clothes and Our Food. Without her trees, our air could have been polluted by now. It's just right to give back to her if possible not just for a day but for everyday. We can choose not to throw our grabage anywhere. We can choose to recylce, reuse and refurbish rather than just throwing them away. A better Earth starts within us. If we start to care then the people around us will start to care and a there will be a day when everybody start caring for our Mother. At the end of the day, this is for the benefit of our children and their children and their children after that.

I know I'm a misery guts but.........

As turning lights on and off again in the space of an hour costs more than just leaving the lights on (reduces lifespan of bulb), I don't suppose I will participate as in actual fact this action will exacerbate the problem not reduce it.

Far better to persuade a million people to purchase energy saving light bulbs.

Who is affected by one hour of random darkness?

Given that one million people will very displaced around the world we won't even notice in our home town who is and who is not participating.

You want to consume less - then consume less. One hour in the dark will actually raise the problem as the only thing to do in the dark is.........

Yes, pregnancy rate will fly up and consumption flies up with it.

I say this slightly in jest but in actual fact pregnancy rates have been known to rise in times like these.

Earth Day 2009, April 22, will mark the beginning of the Green Generation Campaign!

This two-year initiative will culminate with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in 2010. With negotiations for a new global climate agreement coming up in December, Earth Day 2009 must be a day of action and civic participation, to defend the Green Generation’s core principles: Family with windmills: Renewable energy for future generations.
