Earth Day Comments

Pick an action
While earth day reminds us of the precarious situation we're in...thinking and supporting are good...but what if we all took action!
How about if from this earth day to the next we pick one action. One small sustainable action that we can do all year...what change could we make for the next?
Only do something you can do for the year...there's no good in picking something that will become too hard to sustain.
What about:
1. Get a worm farm and feed it your scraps for a year, or
2. Pick one chemical cleaner from your cupboard and refuse to buy it, use a disposable or plant based, biodegradable alternative
3. One night a week, only eat what's in the fridge, you don't cook, you don't go out for extras and you can't order takeaway...think of the gas and electricity you won't use and neither will the takeaway shop, or
4. One day a week, turn off every powerpoint, electrical appliance and light for 3 hours. You could turn them all off before work, and back on when you get home or...
What small action could you choose?...Me? Rain, hail, or shine, my kids and I are going to walk to school 3 mornings a week! (I haven't told them yet...but they'll get it)
We can't return to the past, but small actions can create the future we want!

I LOVE MOTHER EARTH
As an active member of SUBIDA mountaineers in my country it is my duty and commitment to serve and take good care the Nature of Mother earth. And in my own Little way i will volountary give my whole hearted efforts to save and preserve the Nature of Mother Earth.
We need to do this together to achieve the greatest achievement and Goal of our lives. And by doing that im 100% sure that Mother Earht will be saved and back to its Natural and Precious Beauty.

Taking action
we must all do our part to help sustain the green movement. We have come far in the last few years, but there is still so much more to do. This generation has a heavy burden of responsability.
I support livable and sustainable streets in our cities as a means to reduce our impact on the environment. A large % of our energy and resources is directed at the built world; therefore a large part of the solution also lies there.
Go Mama Earth!!!

Action Starts From Ourselves
I think events like this is important to promote to the public on the important of nature conservation. However spreading the words alone is not enough if we ourselves does not participate in the conservation and only pretend that we have done our part.
As a nature lover and an architect I support the use of renewable resources, materials and energy in any building design.

I'm a scrapbooker and card maker and I beleive in using my scraps and recycling found items
I'm a scrapbooker and card maker and I believe in using my scraps and recycling found items. This Saturday at Faith Community Church we are having a Scrapbook Crop. I'm teaching a class using all items I have in my home, nothing new. I am also having a trash to treasures event at my Stampin Up booth. We do this once a year in Las Vegas.
The customers love it and best of all it's very inexpensive!

The Earth Hour to Earth Day Challenge
Is anyone taking part in the EH2ED challenge?
Check it out here: www.coolpeoplecare.org/about/eh2ed/
And if you're up for it let me know by leaving a comment on my blog (howtomakeadifferencenow.blogspot.com/2009/03/take-earth-hour-to-earth-day-c...)
I'll be doing a daily EH2ED 'Blog Carnival' there!

Is being heard enough?
I think it's a very good start. It'll help get the message that the Earth is actually important into the public consciousness. But I also think individuals - you, me, everyone else - need to start actively thinking about what more we can do.
Not just in terms of ensuring various governments start to listen, but in terms of solving the core problems ourselves.
For example, this entire site is a conscious attempt to actually do something, and that type of 'get stuck in and do it' attitude is great. Well done, guys.

Earth Day 2009, April 22, will mark the beginning of the Green Generation Campaign!
This two-year initiative will culminate with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in 2010. With negotiations for a new global climate agreement coming up in December, Earth Day 2009 must be a day of action and civic participation, to defend the Green Generation’s core principles: Family with windmills: Renewable energy for future generations.
