Pick an action

While earth day reminds us of the precarious situation we're in...thinking and supporting are good...but what if we all took action!

How about if from this earth day to the next we pick one action. One small sustainable action that we can do all year...what change could we make for the next?

Only do something you can do for the year...there's no good in picking something that will become too hard to sustain.

What about:
1. Get a worm farm and feed it your scraps for a year, or
2. Pick one chemical cleaner from your cupboard and refuse to buy it, use a disposable or plant based, biodegradable alternative
3. One night a week, only eat what's in the fridge, you don't cook, you don't go out for extras and you can't order takeaway...think of the gas and electricity you won't use and neither will the takeaway shop, or
4. One day a week, turn off every powerpoint, electrical appliance and light for 3 hours. You could turn them all off before work, and back on when you get home or...

What small action could you choose?...Me? Rain, hail, or shine, my kids and I are going to walk to school 3 mornings a week! (I haven't told them yet...but they'll get it)

We can't return to the past, but small actions can create the future we want!

Earth Day 2009, April 22, will mark the beginning of the Green Generation Campaign!

This two-year initiative will culminate with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in 2010. With negotiations for a new global climate agreement coming up in December, Earth Day 2009 must be a day of action and civic participation, to defend the Green Generation’s core principles: Family with windmills: Renewable energy for future generations.
