1 billion people worldwide will turn off their lights for one hour, from 20h00, for Earth Hour 2009.
On 28 March 09 the movement is hoping that a total of 1 billion people worldwide will turn off their lights for one hour, from 20h00 to 21h00 (SA time), for Earth Hour 2009, a global event using mass action to campaign against global warming and climate change. Earth Hour is not about saving electricity. According to the official website, βitβs much broader than that β it is a symbolic action to show governments that the people of the world want an effective global climate deal at the end of 2009.β

Earth Hour All Year Round
3/27/09

I have been writing about Earth Hour since the last Earth Hour.
Earth Hour 2010 will take place on 27 March 2010. So, starting with 27 April 2009, and continuing every month until Earth Hour I will be counting down the months both on my blog and my company blog.
Pictures of the before and afters of world monuments will be included, as well as tips and ideas to make Earth Hour a fun occassion for people everywhere. Links, lots of links, to organizations that participated in Earth Hour 2009 will also be included - these will be anything from local restaurant associations, to sports clubs, to churches.
I am very hopeful that Earth Hour will finally be recognized in the United States in 2009, with 2010 being even bigger (or is darker more appropriate). It is my understanding that both the White House and the Capitol Building will go dark tomorrow evening (oh how I love the Obamas).
So here's to establishing my goal of blogging for Earth Hour 2010!
