My son was born at 27 weeks 2lbs 13oz and 14". He was getting stronger by the day and off the ventilator and breathing on his own. At 2 weeks of age he developed a preemie illness called NEC a illness that mostly only happens to preemies and they don't know exactly why it happens. He spent 9 months of his 10 in hospitals. Hopefully with the help of March of Dimes and research we can find out more about answers to why NEC happens. Lets all come together for the fight. We love you and miss you Gabe!!!

And babies who survive face serious health challenges and risk lifelong disabilities. The rate of premature birth has never been higher. In half the cases, we simply don’t understand what went wrong. We need to fight for answers. And, ultimately, preventions. November 17 is dedicated to raising awareness of the crisis of premature birth.
