This event is a great idea. We have an online action right now to support protesters in Iran: takeaction.amnestyusa.org/siteapps/advocacy/ActionItem.aspx?c=jhKPIXPCIoE&b... Please take action and pass it on! Also, we're updating our blog every day with the latest news and actions: blog.amnestyusa.org Thanks to everyone for spreading the word!

Free from what?

6/22/09

by: petercasier

While it is quite a militant title, I would suggest to steer the event to a "freedom of expression".

I don't want to free Iran from anything. But we should support anyone who wants to speak up for their opinion without the fear of arrest or worse.

Can I suggest to use FreeIran, with "Free" not as a verb but an adjective? Free Iran as "a Free Iran = where everyone can speak up and express their opinion"...

Naked Hope Protest

6/22/09

by: ladysmith

What more powerful statement and image of peace, hope and freedom could there be than to have the peoples of Iran (and any other country in turmoil) unite unarmed, unclothed and silent to march the streets to the seats of power in each of their cities and towns, baring their bodies, hearts and souls. No greater message could there be heard in Iran, or anywhere else, than naked silence. A silence that could travel the world faster and louder than any other sound.

To the People of Iran

6/22/09

by: acousticguitarist

Hopefully by many of us blogging, the people of Iran will understand that there are people in other countries with different Faiths, different approaches to life, that see the need for unity in diversity, regardless of differences which are more to do with our personalities than the underlying core values.

Within all people is the desire to live beautiful lives which are not inhibited by the private agenda of others who wish crush the human spirit and make people slaves of limited thought. It is the birthright of all children to have happy homes, good food, clean water, a safe place to lay their heads and opportunities to be educated in areas that suit their nature.

We pray for a peaceful resolution of any differences and that those in all political parties can seek intelligent ways to resolve any issues and work together for the common good of the people of Iran.
