Indigenous People's Day
October 11, 2010
Objective:
In the U. S. there is a designated day for Indigenous People. The purpose is to bring attention to the true history of Native Americans.
Each year in the United States there is a designated day to celebrate the history of Native Americans. The purpose is to teach the true history of the indigenous people of the Americas.
This date deliberately coincides with the Columbus Day Holiday - in many calendars the second Monday in October is described as the date that Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas - in reality it is the date that Native Americans first discovered Columbus on their shores. It is often a surprise to many when they discover the true history of the country.
