International Animal Rights Day

Objective:
International animal rights groups annual coalition of protests and candle-lit vigils calling for Universal Declaration of Animal Rights.

Based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), signed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10th 1948, the UDAR seeks protection of similar rights for animals calling for an end to "exploitation or oppression in the name of science or sport, or for use as food, for commercial profit or for other human ends".

International Animal Rights Day and the UDAR were launched on December 10th 1998, 50 years to the day after the UDHR was agreed.

British celebrities who have signed the declaration include: Joanna Lumley, Hayley Mills, Spike Milligan, Benjamin Zephaniah, Michael Mansfield QC, Miriam Margoyles, Uri Geller, Carol Royle, Amanda Royle, David Shepherd OBE.

Protests on December 10th are most likely to be focused on vivisection animal suppliers, laboratories and fur and intensive method farms.

Animals are our friend. Some of them live with us and others in forests due to their nature. But greedy we love to present cruel against them. By this way their rights are violating everyday. So the question is, how long be their rights violated? We should ponder over the question and organise mass awareness campaigns. Use of animal to create various luxury items should be mitigated immediately. We should raise our voice to protect animal rights.
