National Senior Citizens Day
http://www.kidscare.org/clubce…
An opportunity for us to show our gratitude for what seniors have achieved in their lives and their contributions to our communities.
National Senior Citizens Day honors our elderly population. On this day, we are encouraged to recognize and show appreciation for the value and contribution of elderly people to home, family and society. On August 19, 1988, President Ronald Reagan issued Proclamation 5847 creating National Senior Citizens Day to be August 21. In his speech President Reagan said "For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older." Join us on Saturday, August 21 to celebrate National Senior Citizens Day.
