Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor's Porch Day

August 08, 2009

Objective:
Teach people there is no such thing as too much zucchini!

Zucchini squash is a popular vegetable, easy to grow and a famously vigorous producer. These vegetables can be eaten when they are several inches long on up to about forearm size. They get bigger, but tend to turn woody and unpalatable.

Some gardeners wind up with so much zucchini that they don't know what to do with it all. They sometimes stash zucchini in other people's cars, offices, porches, etc. Eventually, someone created a holiday expressly for this purpose.

The objectives of this blog campaign include:
1) Encourage gardeners to share their extra zucchini with other folks.
2) Encourage non-gardeners to relieve their gardening friends of extra zucchini.
3) Raise awareness about the health benefits of zucchini.
4) Share recipes for zucchini, especially zucchini milk which is the magical key to realizing that there is no such thing as too much zucchini.
