Veterans Day: Who Will Stand is a Bloggers Unite event that asks bloggers to help raise awareness and funds for various nonprofit organizations that support U.S. Veterans that have returned from service with physical and/or psychological scars. The Soldier’s Project, thesoldiersproject.org Defending Freedom, www.defendingfreedom.net Canines for Combat Wounded, www.caninesforcombatwounded.org Blue Star Mothers, www.bluestarmothers.org Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org These nonprofit organizations were all included in the independent documentary, Who Will Stand, which will be featured at a special Veterans Day screening in Las Vegas on November 11, 2009. The film originally premiered at the Cinema City International Film Festival in 2009. Please check back often for more resources and announcements to help the producers of Who Will Stand raise awareness and funds for men and women who serve and sacrifice. Over the course of the day at Black Tie and Flip Flops today a series of veterans-related articles will be posted; including some re-posts from the past, highlighting veterans in the United States. Most will be related to foodpolicy, soup kitchen, and shelters as I spend a great deal of time working in those ministries in the Episcopal Diocese of Newark NJ.
In addition, the Veterans Organizations featured on the bloggers unite event for today will be featured in our regular Thursday "Favourite Websites:" over the next several months so that after writing about them today we'll re-blog-cast them to keep Veterans front and center of the American consciousness.
We'll also be tweeting and facebooking the organizations today.
