Diane Beeler

I live in Austin, Texas. I am passionate, intellectually curious, and concerned about human rights, civil rights, diverse ideologies, politics, history, and spirituality. I am particularly passionate about the rights of women and children all over the world.

My life's journey has led me through being a single parent to two now-grown beautiful and intelligent daughters, living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, traveling to 18 countries outside the U.S., being a pianist, and working in high-tech as a marketing manager. I now am an independent writer and product marketing consultant. I would like to use my skills, knowledge, and passion to move into a position in human rights.

I take the time to notice the birds and squirrels and focus on being present to the gift of each day. Spirituality is a big part of my life. I love the Buddhist precepts of loving-kindness, befriending who we are right now, and letting go of attachments in order to feel peaceful. I believe that with all of the fear and violence in the world, the peace that starts within each one of us is so needed.

I also believe a new day has dawned with the election of Barack Obama. What a glorious time to be alive to be led by this inspirational, inclusive, family-oriented, and incredibly intelligent leader. He makes me believe that I can be a better person and our country can be better as we come together in unity.

I was so inspired by Obama's candidacy for president that I started this blog and originally blogged exclusively about politics and the election. After it was over, I began writing about human rights and other things I feel passionately about.

Hi, Darlene, Don't forget to put a link to your post on the events page for the Homeless Persons' Memorial Day. I just came from Springfield's event, a sad affair...thanks again. (If you don't get to it today, there's always tomorrow!)
