We are on the Stand Up Take Action map for September 17 to 19 mobilization

9/03/10

by: briandrpm

We are on the map as an official Stand Up Take Action. To take a look click the bitly link at the top of this event page under

Make NOISE to End Poverty Worldwide
bit.ly/9tlWOp

That will take you to our Stand Up Take Action event site. On the right hand side is a red button with "SEE ALL EVENTS ON MAP" click that and you will go to Stand Up2010: September 17th - 19th page. Scroll down and you will see a world map with numbers (if no numbers refresh the page). We are on the west coast down at Southern California, right now there is a 3 there. Click the 3 and you will get 2 at San Diego and a small white cross with red background north of it up at Los Angeles. That's us. They needed a physical location even though we are virtual but the information is Online Worldwide.

Click it and it will open the link to take you to the SUTA event site. The only thing you still cannot do is get back to this site from the SUTA site. I am still hoping that they will figure something out but our voices are set to be heard on September 17 to 19 in anticipation of the United Nations Millennium Development Summit September 20 to 22.

A First: Congress to Hear Testimony on MDGs Today!

We are excited to announce that Today, July 27, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs will hear testimony on the Millennium Development Goals--it is the first time Congress has ever held a hearing on the MDGs!

The congressional committee wants to hear about the status of the Millennium Development Goals—the world's integrated targets to reduce extreme poverty by 2015—and discuss specifically what steps should be taken to ensure the achievement of the Goals.

You may watch a live feed of the hearing here: www.hcfa.house.gov/

Getting Ready for the MDG Summit

6/28/10

by: briandrpm

My latest post to this event provides links to the UN informal hearings on informal interactive hearings with NGOs, Civil Society and the Private Sector. This is the bitly link bit.ly/9R35Qj It is also near the top of the event's post list at least as of now. The post links to a good deal of background on the policy initiatives. Still hoping for more regarding online participation as they had last year. Regardless of our ability to participate directly with Stand Up Take Action, we as bloggers still have an opportunity to have a say about the 8 MDGs, 15 targets and 1,000,000 ideas out there to address these issues. If you are interested in alleviating poverty, education, women's rights, global health especially for maternity and children, protecting the environment, or fair trade and sustainable economic development and want a chance to address this issue when our world leaders are meeting you should be part of this event. Also please think about joining grou.ps/makenoiseformdgs

5/08/10

by: briandrpm

Still hoping that you will come over to my event Make Noise for the Millennium Development Goals at bit.ly/amapeN

I see your event has grown greater than the 2 that you started with better if everyone actually submits.

Your events objective is To help bring ease after hardship to people suffering around the world, by sharing stories and raising money for charities.

Each year, on the 23rd of September it is 'Hardship2ease Day' which this year is just after when the United Nations will be holding their Millennium Summit.

Well I am trying to get people to blog on 1 of 8 ways to ease suffering and have the for when the United Nations meets. United Nations' Eight Goal Millennium Campaign.

1. End Hunger 2. Universal Education 3. Gender Equity 4. Child Health 5. Maternal Health 6. Combat HIV/AIDS and other diseases 7. Environmental Sustainability 8. Global Partnership or all of them.

By they way I just hooked up with dhean

Had to put this here because I can't see most people's shout boxes or even see my friends. It is only because you have an event that I can even get in touch with you through Bloggers Unite

Between now and 17 September 2010 you can make any day Earth Day in support of the global community by writing in support of Millennium Development Goal 7. Environmental Sustainability. The United Nations General Assembly will be holding a High-level Plenary Meeting, also referred to as the ‘MDG Summit’ in New York. The Summit’s main focus will be to build on what we have learned during the past 10 years since the adoption of the Millennium Declaration and how to accelerate progress towards the internationally agreed development goals, in particular MDGs. The Summit will take stock of the successes, best practices, lessons learned, obstacles and gaps related to the MDGs and other development goals. 20-22 September 2010 MDG Summit

4/04/10

by: briandrpm

According to the United Nations Non-governmental Liaison Service and other sources, 2010 will be a critical year in determining which development pathways our world will pursue. In 2000, UN Member States agreed to the Millennium Declaration and committed themselves to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.

On 20-22 September 2010, the General Assembly will hold, in New York, a High-level Plenary Meeting, also referred to as the ‘MDG Summit’. The Summit’s main focus will be to build on what we have learned during the past 10 years since the adoption of the Millennium Declaration and how to accelerate progress towards the internationally agreed development goals, in particular MDGs.
