Never thanked for the messages. Looks like I missed the deadline, and as I think you know, homelessness is one of top priorities, Had no computer. I hope to make it to Compassion; it's handwritten, but I can't read my writing! My avatar is Kuan Yin, the goddess of compassion, so it's very personal for me,. Might as well call me butter bones, because I broke my hip 2 weeks ago. You know, how much I admire you and your work with ARISE. I'm moving ASAP:Once I'm settled, you'll see me around.Regards
MB First happy birthday, belated. I've been really ill, and not keeping up with commitments. I have drafts for 4 other posts; I will, I hope, get this together. I was taking a break for a couple of months, and because of my health, I may have to extend that to get ready for surgery. I'm going to try to get to all of these, and I'm letting people, but it really is almost impossible. I won't do my best, I will do the best a better person would be able to do. Happy Holidays (belated?) Linda
Hey, William, if you to the the page for National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day-- which should be listed right on your personal page-- you'll see a tab called "participating blogs" on the right-hand side. You can post your link-- or the whole post-- right there. Thanks for trying1
Michaelann: I've just joined the following link for mid-Sept. I know we are both pressed for time, but this is right up your alley. Check my B Unite. It's also on BC. No pressure, it's worthy and it needs attention. Sweet tides, Linda fhttp://anewmillennium.blogspot.com .
Michaelann: It's been awhile. I think our links are pretty similiar, with exception of Smashing Magazine's tips on blogging. I've got a number of new followers, and I found all them helpful. Saysomething below has a beautiful blog: worth a visit.
I'm writing you because right now they are showing on CSPAN-2 is playing a meeting with Bloggers (I see the woman from Fire Dog Lake there) with the Peace Institute. I'm sure it's on line. Watching your posts, Keep the Faith! Sweet tides, Linda

Michaelann--I just read parts of your recent posts. You've been a busy bee! I feel like my man left with my best friend. What happened to the People's Republic of MA?. Thanks for befriending me on my blog; you be surprised how that can make my day! I've been too sick to to do much; have to leave for yet another drs. app't.
Hope you don't mind. I was making the changes you suggested, and added the following. I hope you don't mind, but I think it deserved commentary:
( See post on Homelessness Memorial day at http://michaelannland.blogspot .com/ for an exposition of how individuals are helping, taking on the issue in their own way.) It's a tip of the hat to your post. Sweet tides, Linda
I think your spacing, font choice, etc., makes your blog very readable. Didn't realize you are in Springfield. Saw other blog description on BC, and will look more closely this weekend. I've been really sick last two weeks. If you don't hear from me, never take it personally; just means I've fallen and can't get up! (TM) Will be in touch, Linda
Michaelannb: Thank you for your critique. The reason I asked you is I admired not only the homeless piece but others as well. You have a distinctive voice, and the Homeless piece, you discuss people and constructive examples of how people can contribute. I thought it was powerful, as well as 3 or 4 other posts you have. I need to find the link, but there are a series of articles on what's pleasing to the eye so bloggers know what facilitates readership. I don't think you need to read them.cont
Dear Linda, I really liked your post, it kept going places i didn't expect and tying many elements-- artistic, personal, political-- into a single thread. The only feedback I would have is in the very first paragraph, to have a consistent voice for the homeless- sometimes it's "they" and sometimes "you." (I think "you" is stronger, actually.)
I appreciate that you acknowledge your blog as personal/political. I don't know if I have a consistent voice of my own on my blog-- I'm interested and involved in some many things!-- mostly anti-poverty work but more recently health/environmental.
I too have high hopes for Bloggers Unite and I want to increase my involvement this year.
Thanks for writing!
Michaelann: I'm following your site now. I LOVED your homeless piece--well spaced, informative, helpful. When you can, can you critique my post. It needs better editing, formatting, etc. Didn't know you were in Baystate! I've lived all over MA. I'm going to check out your links for Western MA. We also have ACLU in common. Sweet tides, Linda

regards,
I searched a long time for my father, Michael Ballard, whom I never got to know. My search ended when I was informed that he died as a homeless veteran on the streets of St. Louis city last year. I am heartbroken and devastated and I want to honor his name by doing all that I can to fight for the homeless out there who feel all hope is lost. My dad never knew that I loved him unconditionally and would have done anything to help him. I was too late. It doesn't have to be too late for others.
