AIDS hit my family

When my cousin Vic died from AIDS, he looked ancient and skeletal. I still have nightmares. He was a kind and loving person who is greatly missed.
Until this happened in my own family, the closest AIDS had gotten to me was the articles I wrote for the newspaper. When it's that far from you, it doesn't have an effect on you.
Since his death, however, I've followed treatments and research in the news and now I blog in events like this in hopes of raising the awareness of others.
I feel the pain of losing him will not be soothed until I know that no other family will have to endure this. Yes, I understand this is unlikely but I must continue to hope and pray nonetheless.
