StandUp Against Corruption And Poverty
The Millennium Campaign is an interagency initiative of the United Nations that supports citizens’ efforts to hold their governments to accountable for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. Working in more than 30 countries, both rich and poor, the Campaign partners with a wide range of partners at the international and local level to inspire grassroots movements toward the achievement of the Goals.
The Art of Living has been associated with the campaign since 2007 where they mobilised 6.5 million people around the world to stand up and in 2008 took concrete action for the 7th Millennium devlopment Goals where 9.6 million trees were planted around the world. Through Art of Living campaign of Mission Green Earth Stand Up Take Action, 55 million tree plantation commitments were also received from different parts of the world.
In 2009, The campaign upholds good governacne as a vital step in achieving the MDGs and for this The Art of Living will sensitise citizens on the need to understand the roles and responsibilities of thier Governments and what each government is doing to achieve the MDGs.
